Glass Failure Experts at Read Consulting were asked to perform a failure analysis on a jet aircraft windshield. This was obviously an impact failure. There was little or no crushed glass at the origin. This indicates that it was not hit by a hard object. When landing the airspeed is approximately 150 MPH. So any impacting object could cause glass damage. The presence of blood at or near the origin indicates a bird strike.
